It is situated between
Ashen Copse and Coney Bury and was viewable from the road
between Clatford and Clatford Bottom.
I think this one is
linked to the
Chiseldon Draycot Foliat one, as it looks like CDs
spinning round, obviously also there is the 3D aspect of the
cones, too. Foliage and Woods are the link I think. This
matches this year’s theme of Green and Water. The Earth
coming alive tumulus one, and the Butterfly Effect in
Ashbury, intersected by Gore Lane Farm, Al Gore being the
organiser of Live Earth. In London the Key theme tune track
was “Hey You” (Hay Hey) sung by Madonna. The Draycot Foliat
one was in a clear track, The grooves being like a “Get into
the groove for you’ve got to prove your love to me…” and
the Earth’s Latitude lines, to get people to change their
attitude to the Earth. The circle was itself elusive; Lucy
remembers it being very near the aerodrome but could not
recall exactly where when I asked. I live in Swindon so I
thought I’d try to find it for everyone else, I tried 5
times, others tried for 3 hours, on the 5th time
I noticed increasingly ploughed and harvested fields near
the runway. I think both its position and elusively are
like the cloud and sky logo of Live Earth, perhaps we were
never meant to get to see it for whatever reason, perhaps to
make us long for it and think how we’d miss it when if it
were all gone. I think this year’s statement from the
circles is “Earth Calling insert Your Own Name here.”

At first glance,
the six figures around the centre seem to be cones. It takes a
second glance to realize that they are actually impact craters
caused by the comet fragments shown next to each crater. The
formation is showing a central impact area for a comet striking at
night according to the diagram. Six fragments might identify this as
Comet E, but each little fragment has a tiny heat indication in the
centre, indicating that solar radiation has already begun to change
their temperature. At this time, Comet E is too far away for this,
so the comet must be B. The symmetry of the formation is misleading.
All we really know is that six fragments will be creating craters,
either on land or in the water.
