I
feel that it is important to emphasise just how much information
we would have lost if this CC had been totally eradicated.
Luckily, some of the most important areas still survive.
The wide central ring is suggestive of the plane of the Galactic
anti-centre where the Hunab Ku permanently resides. Attached to
its edge (on the left side as we look at it) is the Sun
accompanied by the eight planets in our solar system. Depicted
within the central portion of the wide ring is the Pleiades
cluster with an attached update package. This entire Galactic
ring therefore being reminiscent of the stylised motif shown at
the very centre of last year's CC from Fabbrico (Reggiio Emilia)
in Italy, reported on the 25th of June.
What
needs to be further clarified is that the circle-makers are
belatedly reporting on an event that happens every year called
the Sun-Pleiades conjunction. The fact that this conjunction
occurs in May and that any benefit arising from it has, for the
most part ‘been and gone’ doesn't seem to faze them.
So
by laying down this CC in early August, shows just how much the
circle-makers must value its passing affect. After all, it’s
surely just happenstance that the month of May is somewhat early
to lay down a timely reminder at the actual moment of a
Pleiades-Sun conjunction in a wheat field; but maybe they don’t
want to telegraph this event for fear it would be too obvious
what was occurring. Fortunately for us, the circle-makers
categorically state that this annual celestial event will only
ever bring forth good tidings.
For
what it’s worth; I totally recommend reading the incredible body
of work by the author John Major Jenkins. Here he is explaining
on page 22 of his book entitled ‘Galactic Alignment’ some of the
theory behind what the antecedents of the present day
circle-makers called the New Fire ceremony.
“The
key to understanding this problem is the fact that the midnight
zenith passage of the Pleiades defines the day exactly six
months later when the Pleiades and the Sun are in conjunction.
Earlier I described how Teotihuacan (where, by the way, the New
Fire ceremony was first performed at least 1,700 years ago) was
oriented to the sunset horizon on the solar zenith-passage day,
and in that era the Pleiades rose heliacally on that day. The
Pleiades emerge in the predawn skies (heliacally) after six
weeks of being lost in the rays of the Sun. This six-week period
is generally referred to as the “Sun-Pleiades” conjunction, but
to calculate the precise day of the Sun-Pleiades conjunction one
needs to use another measurement. The event most readily
available upon which to base such a measurement would be the
Sun-Pleiades opposition, which is precisely what the midnight
zenith passage of the Pleiades is.
The
forgotten meaning of the New Fire tradition now comes into
focus: The periodic recalibration of the New Fire date was a way
to recalibrate the conjunction date of the Sun and the Pleiades
in May. Most significantly, however, like the date of the
midnight zenith passage of the Pleiades (the diametrically
opposed event), this conjunction date had been slowly moving
forward through the year ever since the founding of the New Fire
ceremony at Teotihuacan. Furthermore,
the Sun-Pleiades conjunction had been slowly moving forward
through the month of May toward the unchanging date of the Sun’s
zenith passage on May 17 (at the latitude of Teotihuacan). The alignment of the Sun and the
Pleiades in the zenith must have been the ultimate target of the
New Fire ceremony! This convergence of celestial phenomena is
caused by precession and, like the Maya’s galactic cosmology of
2012, it defines a specific era for the world’s ending”
Just
to explain further; this notion of the “world’s ending” was,
according to the Teotihuacanos due to occur in the 1800’s. My
own (JS) interpretation of this passage is that world did indeed
end when the industrial revolution, known as the technosphere
began in earnest.
