It was quite a trek
to this one as after seeing a police car at the other one I decided to
park in Broad Blunsdon and go cross country. And then when I got there
the tramlines were seriously soggy and like long muddy puddles. I think
this was the field that the farmer sprayed as the tractor tyre marks
looked fresh, but I decided as I had come all this way - it would have
been a massive trek for you - I would go in and take the groundshots as
I'd intended, I do after all live in Swindon, so it's easiest for me to
do this.
The reference to Water Eaton and the Civil War I feel is quite correct,
although this did take place at Water Eaton north of Oxford, the
significance still holds valid. I think that this one as it is a round
shape is a Roundhead - This circle and the tree and tramline formation
in the opposite field are combined a Cavalier - his hat. The partner
formation in Water Eaton - as they do do this - is right by an
enclosure, which is interesting.
I think this circle was laid before the other one as the stalks had
bounced back to a higher level. I travelled round clockwise from the
entry tramline point at the south west of the field.
