Anyway this one at West Overton is definitely a modest rendition of Thomas the Tank Engine. Reported 26th August at West Overton, nr Avebury, Wiltshire.

I spotted this formation on the way to Cheesefoot head this afternoon. It looks familiar yet my first quick search of the CCC failed to find it. The OS map reference is approximately SU061582. A bit rough to say the least.

I wondered if you were aware of some crop formations alongside the A350 between Upton Scudamore and Westbury, Wiltshire? I can't seem to find photos or details on websites anywhere at the moment but they have been there for at least a fortnight.

The one at Upton Scudamore is on a hillside on the left hand side of the road when travelling from Warminster to Westbury and is of a sort of shield/key shape. It can be seen from the road and can be found just after the bus stop roughly opposite the right hand turn to Upton Scudamore after the bridge.

I think there are also further formations, possibly circles, in the corn fields after Upton Scudamore as you travel down towards Westbury, again on the left hand side and before you come to Madbrook Farm on the outskirts of Westbury. The crop disturbance is quite clear from the road but you cannot make out any shapes from ground level so it may just be farm workings. I hope this is helpful.

I heard from a colleague today that there is a formation alongside the M4 somewhere between the Swindon east junction and the Hungerford / Wantage junction. (he was a little vague to say the least), but he said you couldn't miss it a you drove in a west.

I have not seen this on the web at all, so have no idea if new, or a hoax etc etc, but thought you may want to know.

On Monday, I was driving north toward Hillcot (south of Honey street), and saw a series of depressions in the crop to the right side (east) of the nearly one-lane road.  It looked like if could be a sentence style formation.  The edges were a bit ragged, so perhaps it could also be blown down crop due to the wind.  There were different sized depressions and they stretched a long ways parallel to the road.  The field is south of the power lines that pass on the south side of the little town of Hillcot.

UPDATE:- THIS IS THE NETTLE HILL. ANSTY, crop circle already reported and on this site.

I think I saw a crop circle yesterday when I was walking around Uffington Castle. It was to the south west of the castle and about 4 fields down from the one which was there 2 years ago. It looked quite large and fairly simple - a big circle and something else. My partner saw it too.

Rosie Tomlinson

I spotted the attached from the top of Liddington Castle, from where this picture was taken. It's to the south of Chiseldon, on the western side of the A346 (which runs between the two rows of trees and hedges you can see below the field in the picture). The crop looks like ripe barley, which would suggest the formation isn't recent. I didn't have time to investigate it on the ground. It may of course just be lodging, but it looks decidedly circular from the hill. A ground visit would confirm.

The rumoured formation at Chiseldon turns out to be just storm damage.

I just drove up to Corhampton and all around Meonstoke, Wickham and along past Corhampton Golf Course (where I presume the formation was) but I couldn't see anything. If you drive along Sheep Pond lane there's something in the field behind which looks like wind damage to me, so perhaps whoever reported it saw that. You can't really see anything at all from the road though, even in my car which is higher than most.

Came back via Warnford and Old Winchester Hill, so there's nothing in the Meon Valley (Hen Wood area) either. I didn't get up to Wheeley Down or Brockwood Park though, as I wanted to be home before the rush hour.

Description: I noticed on the way to Taunton a couple of days after we had thunder storms on driving on the dual carriage way to Taunton, I thought it looked like a crop circle from the distance, I have just been into the field, and it looks like a pattern to me, but I am not a novice, it would be easier if I could see from in the air, I spoke to some people in a house neighbouring the field and they said it appear after the storm on the bank holiday, but the farmer thought it was just wind damage, how can you tell if it is wind damage, it looked like a pattern to me, it is quite a few weeks old if it is a crop circle, I have taken some pictures the best I can.  Look forward to hearing from you.

GLYNDE, NEAR LEWES, EAST SUSSEX. Reported 4th May

LOCATION:  Glynde, near Lewes, East Sussex
DATE:  First seen 4 May 2008
CROP:  Grazing grass
SHAPE:  Double-ringed cross, long path & rectangle
SIZE:  Unknown, but estimated around 150ft total length
PHOTOS:  Stuart Payne

REPORT:  Stuart Payne reported seeing this strange pictogram shape looking North West towards Glynde from the top of Mount Caburn, near Lewes, on Sunday 4 May 2008.  It appears to be in grazing grass close to the River Ouse.

Stuart's photographs show a cross within a double-ring (around 30ft diameter at a guess), with a long thin path leading to a rectangle at the edge of the field.  It is unclear whether it is a 'formation' as such, or some kind of farming experiment.  It is one of only a very few grass markings ever reported in Sussex.

No further information is currently available.
