Reconstruction of the
2007 West Kennett Long Barrow formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Copy circle 1 to its righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline. Move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own corresponding intersection.

3. Repeat step 2 two more times, with respect to the newly copied circles.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the lefthand in stead of the righthand intersections. This makes seven tangent circles on a row, as shown.

5. Construct the "circumscribed" circle of the seven circles 1, 2, 3 and 4. That means, concentric to circle 1, tangent to the rightmost circle 3 at the righthand side.

6. Construct the circumscribed square of circle 5, sides horizontally and vertically.

7. Construct the circumscribed circle of square 6.

8. Construct the circumscribed dodecagon (regular 12-sided polygon) of circle 7, pointing to the right.

9. Construct the circumscribed circle of dodecagon 8.

10. Copy circles 1, 2, 3 and 4 as a whole, with the center of circle 1 as a reference, to the lower intersection of circle 5 and the vertical centerline.

11. Draw the two diagonals of square 6.

12. Construct the circumscribed decagon (regular 10-sided polygon) of circle 5, pointing to the right.

13. Construct the circumscribed circle of decagon 12.

14. Construct the inscribed square of circle 13, sides horizontally and vertically.

15. Construct the inscribed circle of square 14.

The following steps 16 through 27 are an iterative repetition of steps 12, 13, 14 and 15 (therefore with few comments).

The following steps 29 through 32 are an iterative repetition of steps 27 and 28.

29. Inscribed circle.

32. Inscribed square.

33. Extend the lower side of square 18 in both directions, up to square 14.

34. Extend the lower side of square 26 in both directions, up to square 22.

35. Extend the lower side of square 30 in both directions, up to square 28.

36. Extend the upper side of square 22 in both directions, up to square 14.

37. Extend the upper side of square 26 in both directions, up to square 14.

38. Draw two lines, from the intersections of square 14 and lines 36 to the adjacent intersections of square 18 and lines 37, as shown.

39. Extend the upper side of square 28 in both directions, up to square 22.

40. Extend the upper side of square 30 in both directions, up to square 22.

41. Draw two lines, from the intersections of square 22 and lines 39 to the adjacent intersections of square 26 and lines 40, as shown.

42. Extend the upper side of square 32 in both directions, up to square 28.

43. Draw two connecting lines, between the center of the diagram (center of circle 1) and the intersections of square 28 and lines 42, as shown.

44. Draw the connecting line between the intersections of square 30 and lines 43. Extend this line in both directions, up to square 28.

45. Draw six connecting lines, between the center of the diagram (center of circle 1) and the tangent points of circles 10, as shown.

46. Only circle 9, squares 6, 14, 18, 22, 26, 28, 30 and 32, and lines 11 and 33 through 45, will be used for the final reconstruction.

47. Remove everything not visible in the formation itself.

48. Colour all areas with standing...

49. ...or with flattened crop. This will finish the reconstruction of the 2007 West Kennett Long Barrow formation.

50. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
