Reconstruction of the
2004 Tegdown Hill formation.
by Zef Damen

I've not been able to speak to anyone yet who got into
the formation early on the day of its appearance. I think Dan Vidler, who
you spoke to, went in at about midday, and I'm sure it would have received
some visitors by then. So nothing can really be stated as regards to the
damage, or lack of, inflicted on the crop. Where people have been walking,
i.e. around the edges of the formations, it's already pretty smashed and
broken, however in the less walked areas it looks as though the original
condition may have been pretty good. Perhaps you can put the shout out for
anyone who went into it on Sunday morning to get in contact, otherwise we
may hear something at our next meeting.
The formation is 260ft across, the centre circle is
52ft, the pathways are 11ft. Everything is laid in a clockwise manner, and
the 'Vesica Pisces' appears to be orientated exactly due north/south. From
the air I think the formation will be seen to be centred on a tramline,
and its outer circumference nestled between a further pair. The formation
is about 201ft and the tramlines run east/west.
That's all I can say at this point, other than it feels
nice to be inside, its in a scenic location, and feels like a lovely start
to the Sussex season. As with many formations, there are a couple of
counter flowing construction lines, on this occasion at the edges of the
central Vesica Pisces, and these would have been useful in a manual
construction but technically not absolutely essential.
