Prior to seeing the trespass sign at the West Stowell formation I
visited it on the ground and found the lay to be very pleasing. Many of the stems I
examined showed true magic bends, although much of the crop was still standing. It was difficult to ascertain whether it had grown
back up or had not been laid flat at the time of creation. Many standing stems were along the tractor tram-lines. There was evidence of
gap seeking along the edge of the design.
When I left the formation and was on the public footpath that is adjacent to this field I was buzzed numerous times by a military
helicopter with nothing better to do than scare the wits out of a walker. I dived through a hedge to manage to take this photograph.

The past 12 days, has seen what I would quantify as a transformation in the crop circle season. The ever more complex designs that we are so use to seeing year upon year, have been brought back to a earlier time, when I was a fresh researcher to the phenomenon. The new formation at Golden Ball hill is the latest design with a rotational spinning effect, which is so important for sheer movement from an aerial, and to some degree on the ground.

From the hillside, this wonderful design seems to be unfinished. The nearest blade towards the hill is incomplete, but has started to be marked out. There is also a part of the flattened inner section of crop, which stills appears to be standing. However, this beautiful formation has not been spoiled by its missing elements, or by its positioning close to the hill. Its location is part of the historical characteristic of the phenomenon, when many events appeared on the lee of a hillside.
