A formation @ Honey Street nr Alton Barnes. Wiltshire.
Reported 8/7/00 (Wheat)
Just across the canal from the popular camp site & pub (Barge
Inn) at Honey Street sits a small but rather cute crop circle in a very soggy field of wheat. Our latest offering incorporates a
number of design features that make this little formation a very interesting and impressive example of circle making
creativity.
What we have here is a central component to the formation that's comprised of four main standing sections that has the
appearance of a spinning propeller, the spinner is housed within a circle
of neatly led down corn which is itself enclosed within a ring of downed crop (approx 120ft)
diameter. This outer ring was, for me the most impressive feature of the whole design.
Rather than being laid in the usual manner, this area had a most unusual
weave style not seen on this scale before in any crop formation by this writer. The wheat that makes up the
perimeter path has been put down in the style of a lattice or Celtic weave, this
continues around the whole path with the corn being swept from left to right creating multiple directional
layering of the young wheat. This feature of the formation has created the impression of a narrow stream of water
flowing around the central pattern. Just a few feet from the main formation there are three additional small circles arranged in
order according to diminishing size,
Also worthy of a mention is the fact that the formation contained within it, a very large number of wheat plants with,
what people call magic bends. In certain parts of the design all the stems had perfect 45 degree bends that had no signs of
splits or damage to the plants at all.
