The formation at Winterbourne Monkton is a well executed set of   nested crescents. The formation is approximately 180ft in diameter   and is in green barley.

Variations on this design-type have been seen several times before,   first appearing at West Meon in 1995, then subsequently at Penton   Grafton 1999 and at Acton Turnville in 2001.

On the ground.

This formation is well defined around the standing crescents and peripheries, but generally rather messy on the ground. Practically all downed crop has recovered significantly, and is now not far from the original standing position in some areas of the formation..

Some localized patches within the circle have a very mechanical finish, as can be seen from some aerial perspectives. Other areas, in stark contrast, have a rather chaotic fluidity running through the apparent mess of half standing barley.

No miraculous discoveries made at ground level here, and just one from the air!

Overall diameter   …. 290ft

This formation indicates what a typical crater caused by a comet or comet fragment impact would look like on land. It is quite similar tothe July 21, 1995 crop circle at East Meon, Petersfield, Hampshire. It also resembles an engine of a jet airplane, perhaps implying that when the comets strike there will be a substantial reduction in jet flight.
