Reconstruction of the
2007 Westwoods formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the circumscribed octagon (regular 8-sided polygon) of circle 1, with the mid-point of a side on the horizontal centerline.

3. Construct the circumscribed circle of octagon 2.

4. Construct two "tilted" squares, by connecting every second angular point of octagon 2 (two sets).

5. Construct a circle, with its center on the horizontal centerline within the octagon enclosed by squares 4, tangent to the leftmost side of octagon 2, tangent to the upper lefthand side of one square 4, and tangent to the lower lefthand side of the other square 4, as shown.

6. Copy circle 5 to its lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

7. Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the end-points of a centerline), by the righthand intersections of circles 1 and 6 with the horizontal centerline.

8. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 6 at the righthand side.

9. Copy circle 8 to the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline.

10. Copy circle 8 to the lefthand intersection of circle 3 and the horizontal centerline.

11. Draw the connecting line between the righthand intersections of circles 5 and 10, both with the horizontal centerline.

12. Just circles 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 10, and line 11 are used for the final reconstruction.

13. Remove everything not present in the formation itself.

14. Colour all areas with standing...

15. ...or with flattened crop. This will finish the reconstruction of the 2007 Westwoods formation.

16. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
