FIELD REPORT This design was the third event to occur very close to were both Mark and myself live. This particular area, is the Duchy of Cornwall land, and is owned by a number of Farmers who live in the local area. The location of this design came as a great surprise to us, as it was positioned very close to the main road leading from Corston to Marksbury. It was tucked up in the corner of the field, along the boundary of Stantonbury Hill Fort, placed on the gentle slopes leading up to what is now a wooded hill. Its quite dramatic to view this formation from the road, which consist of three circumscribed circles, interlocking, with a central section containing a triangular design, within a flattened area of crop. Inside the central Triangle the crop is laid in three portions, which is mirrored on the outer section of crop, but this time split into two different directions. The quality of the floor construction was pretty good; however, there was a feeling of compression on the stems, and a mechanical feel to the way the crop was flattened. This type of detail is worrying, I prefer to have crop, which has a fluidity to its construction. Our time as short within this formation, but it was a welcomed edition to other designs in the area.
