A formation @ Silbury Hill nr Avebury. Wiltshire Reported
24/7/00 (Wheat) Once again, Silbury Hill has been the venue for a significant
offering from the ever elusive crop circle makers. On this
occasion we have received a formation that is in some respects, consistent with a number of previous
formations, this year, in this immediate area. The triangles are
back on the scene, this time there are thirty of them arranged
within a sizable circle of downed wheat. The formation
appears to have had a huge number of visitors, largely due to
the placement of the circle within the landscape and it's
proximity to the frantic A4. When we arrived at the formation
late in the afternoon on the day of it's arrival there were
dozens of people milling around, keenly examining this latest
work of art. With this in mind it's not surprising that most of the
downed crop was very flat to the floor, nevertheless all the
standing triangles were in good condition & flawless, apart
from the fact that one of them has come adrift from it's logical
geometric position within the formation.
This crop circle consists of a downed circle of corn (approx)
200ft diameter. Within this circle are six pentagrams constructed
using standing triangles of wheat, the triangles being the
points of the stars, one at the centre, which is surrounded by
the other five in a very attractive fractal style. For no apparent
reason one of the satellite pentagrams has been left with a
flaw at one of it's five points. This concept of leaving
formations with obvious irregularities or incomplete in some
small way has been very much to the fore this year with a
number of formations displaying similar glitches. This aspect
of circle construction I find very odd indeed, why would the
circle makers go to all the trouble of making such a fine
formation and then leave a very obvious design flaw? I doubt
very much that this is an actual mistake. Throughout this
formation there are many examples of clever weaving and
floor lay patterns. Even though the formation had received lots of visitors the floor construction was still very
apparent and rather impressive.
The formation is very visible from the busy A4 highway and
sits almost opposite Silbury Hill. Very well constructed and a
pleasure to visit
