A formation @ Avebury Trusloe nr Avebury. Wiltshire
Reported 22/7/00 (Wheat)
The Windmill Hill end of the Avebury complex has, for the
second time this year been the target for crop circle activity of
a very high standard. As with the previous optical illusion
square formation, just a few fields away, this one has a floor
construction that has a quite chaotic and untidy appearance.
The whole glyph looked to me as if it had come down hard,
with not to much emphasis on the creation of an elegant floor
lay. This crop circle, I feel, is one of those that need only to be
seen from the air. Even if this is the case, a visit to this elaborate formation will be necessary to fully appreciate
the complexity of design. Standing within this beaming array of multiple standing diamonds, blades and squares was
a quite breathtaking and extremely complex sight, the likes of which have only been seen on a very few occasions this year
so far.
What we have here is a circle of downed wheat (approx 250ft
diameter), within which sits an arrangement of standing diamonds
and squares & curves that fit together to create a twin semicircular pattern of some considerable beauty. The main
internal structure of this formation has been split into two hemispheres back to back which appear to be exact
opposites. Each hemisphere consists of twenty nine sharp diamond shape blocks of standing wheat which extend out to
within (approx) 10ft of the formation perimeter. Enclosed within this arrangement of rays are a huge number of
additional various size and shape standing sections that, combined provide the appearance of waves or ripples on a
pond, possibly a representation of an electromagnetic field wave pattern. To me this design has the look of a pattern,
created by applying two magnets to a heap of iron shavings, the resulting structure, I feel would be quite similar in
appearance to this amazing crop circle. Whatever it's meaning,
this is a highly sophisticated undertaking that appears to have
a certain fractal quality about it. One observer at the scene
postulated that this same pattern could be created by dropping
two stones into a pool of water next to each other, the result
would be two expanding sets of waves adhering to strict
mathematical formula.
As an overall design this is hugely impressive, all the various
size standing diamonds and squares were well defined & finished to geometric perfection. From the air this crop
circle is simply stunning.
