A formation @ Bishops Cannings, Nr Devizes. Wiltshire.
Reported 27-6-00 (wheat)

Close to the Wiltshire village of Bishops Cannings lies the latest cereal thriller of the 2000 circle season, thriller being a very apt word to use in this case. This formation is packed full of high quality features & intricate weave styles throughout.

The formation is situated in virtually the same location as the 1999 Basket glyph. This means, as you may have by now guessed, we have a major ANGRY farmer situation to deal with. Frances and some research colleagues of ours were evicted from the formation after just a few moments of viewing this splendid work of art, they found themselves being treated in a very heavy handed and abusive manor by the farmer and his thug sidekicks. This farmer even felt the need to call the local police for assistance in keeping people out of his field. I guess he didn't feel spiritually uplifted by the shapely visitor to his field.

As far as the farmer is concerned this crop circle is (quote) "pure mindless vandalism". He didn't even bother to take a look at the formation before making the above comment.

A short distance from the aforementioned drama and
excitement a crew of workers from Southern Electric were observed  repairing street lamps on the edge of the nearby town. It dawned on those present that if you can't go in, go over. With this in mind some heavy duty begging was called for, this resulted in the electric company truck with it's bucket & extendable arm being deployed on the edge of the field next to the formation . On maximum elevation this device (cherry picker) made for an adequate photographic platform, thanks guys.

The formation consists of a very impressive 202ft diameter ring of downed crop within which sits a central eight pointed star. This is encased by a further eight pointer that extends to the inner edge of the perimeter ring. Various other impressive geometric shapes fit into this design that together make a very stunning and awe inspiring sight indeed. The floor lay & construction of the design are, in short, outstanding. There are numerous sunburst style features with standing centres that have the appearance of small water sprays coming out of the ground. The floor of the formation as a whole is executed with breathtaking precision, wherever we looked there was
not a stalk out of place.

View the images and weep.
