A formation @ Alton Priors, Wiltshire Reported 19/6/00
(Barley)
Just across the road from the famous east field at Alton Barnes
lies our latest gift from the circle makers. In physical structure
and design concept this formation sits alone when one considers
the theme for the bulk of this seasons quality crop circles. There
is however it appears, some numerical relationships with a few of
this seasons formations.
Sitting comfortably within a circle (approx) 220ft diameter of downed barley are sixteen standing sections that fan out from a
beautifully sculptured central area. The paths between the
sixteen fans of this design have a very impressive fluid look and
feel about them that continues beneath the downed central area
to the very centre of the formation. Each of the standing arms
helps to construct sixteen circles within the formation that are
only fully apparent as whole circles when one considers the floor
lay as an integral design feature.
As we studied and took time to examine the formation we came
across numerous examples of severe distortion to some of the
seed heads of the barley. One in particular was so affected by
whatever process caused the barley to lay down that it had
become twisted and distorted, almost beyond recognition.

Another seed head had a very well cooked young snail welded to
the scorched bristles of the affected plant (see photos).

Most of
the heat damage and distortion we observed was found on the
edges & corners of the standing sections of the formation.
Taken as a whole this formation is a quite breathtaking work of
precision and beauty. When it comes to 2D crop circles this is as
good as they come.
Precision impossible..
