A Black Hole @ Silbury Hill
Just prior to the public announcement that a large hole had appeared in the top centre of Silbury Hill we had a phone call
from a rather shaken & bewildered friend of ours. This friend had decided to take a climb up the hill for a little afternoon peace and
relaxation. As she began to climb the steep & rutted path to the summit, a car screeched and skidded to a halt behind her on the
busy A4. Out jumped a man who started shouting and screaming at her in a very alarmed manner, she had no idea what the hell
this man was so worked up about, so she just carried on up the path thinking he must be some English Heritage fanatic who
didn't care for the sight of a hippy on his hill.
When our friend got to the top of the hill she staggered out of breath toward the centre depression for a sit down. Suddenly she
found herself almost falling down a huge black hole, as she almost went over the event horizon it dawned on her what the
guy on the road had been so keen to tell her about. Wow what a shock that must have been to the system.
Since this happened, speculation has been rife regarding the depth & size of the hole and indeed the physical and
metaphysical reasons that could cause such a collapse to occur at all.
Due to our research we can state as a matter of fact that the hole is the re-opening of the original 1776 archeological dig (treasure
hunt) carried out by one Col Drax on behalf of the duke of Northumberland. This work consisted of sinking a shaft from the
top centre to the base of the hill, looking for who knows what. After the work was completed, the shaft which is (approx) eight
feet sq at the top & five feet sq at the base was capped several dozen feet from the surface. It seems quite reasonable to me that
after a couple of centuries the timbers used for the capping would be completely rotten. This coupled with the extremely
heavy rainfall we had in this area around the time of the collapse makes the case for the physical reasons solid.
I think that it is also quite possible that other less physical factors may have come into play that led to these events happening at
this time, which in my view makes reasonable sense when one considers the attention Silbury Hill receives from the circle
makers & related phenomena on a very regular basis. The genuine strangeness
that has been experienced by many people, including ourselves on numerous occasions, leads me to believe
that the recent events at the hill may well be something more than just a boring random geo-physical event. Synchronism may
be a good word to use.
From our research we have come up with the following facts regarding the black hole.
The shaft drops vertical to a depth of thirty three feet (interesting number) .. At this depth the shaft is completely blocked by loose
dirt & rubble.
The sides of the shaft are completely smooth and square for the whole distance down to the blockage.
At the base of the shaft there is a second tunnel heading south at (approx) thirty degrees. This shaft extends to eighteen feet
before more dirt & rubble block the way. The shaft is very neatly cut into the vertical wall of the more well known Drax shaft. It is a
rather interesting fact that the second shaft is nowhere to be found on any archeological record pertaining to Silbury Hill even
though it looks as if it is part of the same work carried out in 1776 by Drax.
The hill has been twice dug into from the west side in the past, both digs were from the base with the tunnels horizontal &
parallel to each other.
As things stand at the moment the top of the hill is considered very dangerous & unstable.
It is advisable to stay well clear of the site whilst repair work is carried out...
