Burlington, nr Seattle nr Peterson Road, Skagit County. WA. USA. Reported early September.

Updated  Monday 30th May 2000

BURLINGTON, WASHINGTON STATE FORMATION:

Crop: Wheat, 60-acre field, the farmer harvested around the formation

Discovery: Early September l999

Formed: Possibly three weeks earlier

Farmer: Fred (wishes to remain unknown)

Location: Burlington, just north of Seattle near Peterson Road, Skagit County

Description: An outer ring approx. l00 yards in diameter, and a center circle with one pathway leading from the center circle into the ring.

Explanation: The farmer believed it caused by young people about three weeks before he harvested the field but he said the crop was all laid out perfectly in one direction. A nearby resident disagreed and said there was no sign in the field of anyone passing through it and no visible entrance. It was located a long way from the road.

Media Coverage: There were two articles in the Burlington Argus newspaper with an aerial photo. The first article was dated Sept. 8, and the second article dated Sept. 29.

Related Events: A report from a Pony Express driver, Jerry Twyman of Bothell, Washington said that he saw three other crop circles in Skagit County this summer. One was in wheat on LaConner-Whitney Road which was small and ill formed. The second formation was seen two months ago in wheat off of Fir Island Road near a bridge. It was large and impressive. A third circle was seen at the corner of McLean and LaConner-Whitney Road, which was large and well-made and shaped like a key.

BLT: no sampling was done

CCCS Research: This formation in Burlington was reported to me by Paul Anderson by phone message while I was out of town in early Sept. When I returned on Sept. 21st I followed up and found that no field research had been done and finally obtained the journalists article and photo on Oct.
8th.
