Burghasungen, near Kassel, Germany. Reported 1st May
Updated Monday 17th May 1999

On May 1, 1999, Wolfgang Ring discovered
the formation in a field of rape ( canola ) at Burghasungen in Hessen. This area is one of
Germany's Crop Circle hot-spots known from the labyrinth and maze formations of 1997 and
last year double spiral.
The formation consits of a central circle surrounded by three outer rings and an attached
'comet'-feature.
On Sunday, researches went in to have a first look. It was reported that very little
damage was found and the stalks were not broken but bent.
The 'comet' feature is made of a small circle with standing centre attached to the inner
side of the third ring. Out of this circle a path or tail came out leaving the last ring
top emerging into the field.
Data:
Central Circle: 5,5 m diameter
First Ring: 16,1 m diameter - 2,9 m wide
Second Ring: 20,27 m diameter - 1,3 m wide
Third Ring: 40,5 m diameter - 1,3 m wide
'Comet' Circle: 2,3 m diameter - 10 stalks creating the stading centre
Everything is flattened clockwise
According to the field investigators mostly all of the stalks raised back up again in an
angle of about 90° - so the formation must be some days old which gives the first
Formation here discovered in the last days of April 1999.
Thanks to Wolfgang Ring for the first information and data. A full report with
photos will be published at the FGK-Website soon.

Report
On May 1, 1999, Wolfgang Ring discovered germany's first CC-formation of 1999. The
formation was placed in a field of yellow rape between Burghasungen and Gut Bodenhausen
near Kassel in Hessen. This area is one of Germany's CC-hot-spots known from the famous
1997 labyrinth and maze formations and the 1998 eight-spiral. Over the past few year local
CC-and UFO-researher, Wolfgang Schöppe tooknumerous photos of lightphenomena and UFOs in
that area. The formation was not visible from passing roads but a nearby hill gave a
beautiful view. It was visited the same day by local researchres W.Ring,
W.Schöppe,D.Möller
and K.Listmann and it was said thatnot many damage to the plants was found. The stalks
were bent to the ground but strated to raise up again so the formation musthave been some
days old.
Data
Central Circle: 5,49 m EW / 5,7 m NS diameter - clockwise
First Ring: 16,1 m EW / 16,00 m NS diameter - 2,9 m wide - clockwise
Second Ring: 20,27 m diameter - 1,3 m wide - clockwise
Third Ring: 40,75 m EW / 40,55 m NS diameter - 1,3 m wide - clockwise
'Comet'-Circle: 2,38 m diameter - clockwise with standing centre created by 10 plants
of 0,34 m diameter
'Comet-tail': laid towards the circle
Plants: 1,35 m high
