UPDATE
A quickie to bring you current with efforts to obtain photos of Marion, N.Y. Formation. The following are excerpts from Barbara Wolf's letters to me today:
LETTER
Talked on the phone with the farmer's wife whose husband
found the crop circle. It is still in tact. Few have seen it. Talked with Larry Thomas of
Newark, N.Y., who has been testing the crop circle for a week. He has been sending samples
to a Professor Levengood of Michigan. Ground, stalks, toadstools now coming up in crop
circle. Says crop circle is about 3 weeks old, has been undisturbed. Looks a bit ragged
now because of age and there are new oaks beginning to come up.
[I think that should be "new OATS", not 'oaks' ... ilyes]
A small town newspaper (Walworth is the name of the town) went out and did photographs and put something on its front page. They took about a roll of film. The farmer who first saw the crop circle flew his farm plane over it and took photos but wasn't sure how his camera reacted (or whatever), according to his wife during our phone conversation.
The possibility of flying over the crop circle is definitely on ... The pilot is checking weather news and will give the go-ahead when conditions are okay. I will go up, plus I've invited Larry Thomas to go up. He's been trying to go up for a week and has run into snags each time. I'll take photos, as probably will Larry Thomas.
Re his research, L.T. said it would probably take about three weeks for the results to be done. He is not at all adverse to sharing it with you and England. I already told him about you and Mark Fussell. In fact, I just e-mailed him the URL where I first saw info on the Marion crop circle. He was surprised the world knows about it but the local population remains in the dark. The farmer's wife phoned the big Rochester newspaper but whoever answered the phone was not interested. Neither was the local TV station.
Just had word. 4 p.m. this afternoon the pilot will fly three of us over the crop circle. I am going to the crop circle (on the ground) before that.

So we should be receiving some photos of this lost and forgotten little Circle shortly !

Okay. I phoned the Marion police dept.,, got nice woman who had actually heard of crop circles. She knew nothing. Transferred me to a Records Dept. woman who laughed and laughed at such an outlandish request, never heard of crop circles, got nothing from her. Marion Library is closed, has answering machine that crackles noise but nothing else.
Phoned the county airport, and yes!, maybe some pay dirt. Nice man who had heard about such things as crop circles, said he'd put out the word, tapped with one finger my name and phone number on his typewriter. And so, that is how things stand at the moment. Let me know if there is anyone in the Rochester or Western New York State area who is a crop circle bug, because that person would probably have area connections which would lead to the crop circle.
I will e-mail Mark Fussell requesting how to connect Nancy Talbott who is mentioned in his newsletter re Marion, N.Y. crop circle.

I also received a new circle report this morning from Nancy Talbott of BLT; a pictogram 70' - 100' long, near Marion, New York State, USA, in oats. Found early August, but just reported. Five circles of various sizes with connecting pathways. There should be more info on it soon.
