INTERNATIONAL CROP CIRCLES OF 1996Updated Thursday 29th August 1996 Etna Troy township, Indiana, North America. Reported 20th August. We went and visited (and surveyed) this enormous formation today (7-16). It is at least 600 ft. long and consists of a 62 ft. circle surrounded by a ring. A pathway from the circle crosses the ring into a 40 ft. circle that has THREE spiralled centres. The only anomalous radiation readings we got was from the area between the 3 spiralled centres (2 times normal background). Continuing along the same direction, 50 ft. from the first part is a 6-8 ft. single circle. These three circles and the ring are counter-clockwise. Toward the Southeast about 100 ft. from the 6-8 ft. circle is a pathway that is bent in a "V" shape at a 45 degree angle. Off one of the vertices is a small "spur" that creates a 90 degree angle. 400 ft. toward the Southeast from the 6-8 ft. circle is a 45 ft. circle that has an "L" attached due east. That is the basic idea of the whole formation. There was also much wind damage and deer bedding marks in the field (Wheat). It took us nearly six hours to survey the formation! The formation was spotted at 7:00 a.m. (E.S.T.) on Sunday July 14. We took lots of pictures, and we will get a diagram out to you guys as soon as we draw one up. The whole formation reminds me of the formations of 1989 and 1990. IT'S GENUINE, AND A MAJOR FORMATION HERE IN THE STATES! We will keep you posted, Report by Jeffrey M. Wilson jwilson@online.emich.edu and Jason Braden braden@online.emich.edu The pictures in Wheat are from the Indiana formation, the ones in grass are from Ohio. There are a couple of large mosaics that we put together as well, I think they give a really good perspective of these two sites. Look carefully at the Etna Troy Township Indiana mosaic -- these 3 pictures were taken in consecutive order. The first picture has an overexposed bright line at the bottom of the frame, the second picture was just fine, the third picture was much darker than the other two AND it had the overexposed line at the bottom of the picture. We had lots of camera malfunctions at both these sites.
