This formation was formed between August 10 and 12, 1996. On August 10, I spotted the first Hoensbroek circle from out of the air. When I went back two days later by car, I found a second acriglyph had appeared at only a few meters from the first one! Again, with a very unconventional shape (church window?). I did not have time to do extensive measurements, so the attached diagram is only approximate. Total top-bottom length: about 20 m. One very interesting detail worth mentioning is however the following: the stalks (smoothly flattened on the crisp and soft, untouched soil) did not at all follow the pattern. Their direction would change along straight paths, i.e. the direction would remain identical while the paths bent (see diagram). At the bottom, the stalks were bent perpendicularly to the path. Hard to hoax, I would say. At some points, little bunches of corn would be bent opposite to the main flow. A very impressive pattern.

This image shows a crumb of soil, with the stalks bent AROUND it. The soil was extremely soft and brittle!

I try to pick up the crumb, which falls apart immediately.

I barely touched the crumb - yet it is destroyed!
