Flattened ring on a lawn

Time: Late Saturday evening between 11.30 and midnight, still light outside.
Location: Bjørum, the town of Namsos, the county of Nord-Trøndelag

Ann-Kristin Ledang was in the bathroom on the backside of her house, when she heard a sound she thought was opera music from the neighbour's house. Afterwards, when her husband was the bathroom, he heard a sound that he thought was Ann-Kristin speaking on the mobile phone. It was still light outside. When in the bathroom they will normally look out of the window and see the neighbouring house, but for some reason none of them did this evening.

Monday morning when Ann-Kristin looked out into the garden from the kitchen window (also on the backside of the house), she discovered a ring on the lawn. The grass in the ring had a lighter colour than the rest of the lawn, like it was bleached or had lost its colour in some way. While the grass in the centre of the circle possibly looked slightly darker than the rest of the lawn, the grass surrounding the ring looked perfectly normal.

While observing the ring, Ann-Kristin felt uncomfortable. She thought the ring on her lawn was awkward and eerie. She was at the same time thinking of the strange sound she had heard the evening before, and she somehow felt uneasy about going out to take a closer look at the ring. She called her mother (Hillfrid Malmo) and was talking to her on the phone while she was walking into the garden and entered the ring. Immediately she started sweating and a felt a strong tingling under her feet.

She now saw that the lighter coloured grass in the ring was flattened anti clockwise. The circle measured 1,20m across, and the ring itself was 15cm wide. She photographed the ring both with her mobile and with a digital camera.

The following evening, when Ann-Krisitn and her husband had gone to bed, they again heard strange sounds, - this time more like a buzzing.

Two days later they cut the grass with a motorized lawn mower, but the ring was still clearly visible. They cut the grass again ten days later, but still the ring was standing out clearly and the grass inside the ring still had a lighter colour. It seemed like the grass in the ring has stopped its normal growth.

Telephone interview of Ann-Kristin Ledang by Eva-Marie Brekkestø, 15th of July 2010.

The father of Ann-Kristin, Stig Malmo, reported the ring to the local newspaper already on the12th of July.
