This is a staple type of formation indicating the relative positions of the 10 major fragments and split nucleus of Comet B. The important idea here is the positions, not the movement or temperature of the group.  We have no idea exactly where Comet B is in the inner solar system from this formation alone. The other half of the nucleus is the largest fragment located on the left in the diagram.
