MEXICAN CROP CIRCLES IN 2006

01 Formation

Updated Tuesday 6th February 2007

Crop circle formations reported from Juárez, Nuevo León, Mexico and from south-central Tennessee

This geometric formation was discovered about 14 miles east of Monterrey, Mexico in the village of Juárez in the Mexican state of Nuevo León.  The local channel 7, TV Azteca Norreste, had sent out their helicopter “Angel 7” to get some video footage of a traffic accident on December 22, 2006.  They were in-flight, returning, when the cameraman, Victor Hugo Lujan, spotted several circular marks in a pasture.  While still airborne, they quickly transmitted and broadcast live coverage of the crop circle formation to their TV audience.

Local police were notified of the formation, and they cordoned off the site to protect it from visitors and to investigate – no further details have emerged from this police investigation as of yet.

The formation consists of four flattened circles and three flattened rings of various sizes and placement across the field (perhaps there may be more circles there, as the quality of the video capture from the TV broadcast isn’t particularly good), as well as at least one area of RDF-type flattening.

It is very difficult from these images to get an estimate of the sizes of any of the circles or rings because there doesn’t appear to be any recognizable objects for scale.  It appears that the field does not seem to have regularly-spaced tramlines, and there are no tracks leading to the majority of the circles / rings -- although there is an access line which does go through the largest ring.  The Spanish-language reports of the formation refer to the field as a ‘pasture’, but we cannot identify the exact crop as yet.

The President of OMIFO (a local paranormal group), Jerónimo Flores, has remarked that there was another recent crop circle reported near Cadereyta Jiménez – about 7 miles to the east of Juárez, but gave no additional details of that formation.

Juárez, Nuevo León, Mexico is located approximately 80 miles south of the USA / Texas border, and approximately 160 miles southwest of Rio Hondo, Cameron County, Texas where three sets of concentric rings were discovered in a pasture and reported by a local Sheriff’s deputy Arnulfo Huerta (who owned the field) on September 7, 2006.  Linda Howe covered this Texas report on her www.earthfiles.com website several months ago.

Here is a map of the most recent crop circle reports from Mexico and the south western USA states that the ICCRA has received reports of:

Again, thanks to Ruben Uriarte for forwarding the original report in Spanish: http://www.info7. com.mx/Video. asp?Nta_id= 18410

And to “Belduque” from Monterrey who wrote about the formation on his “Journalism of Mystery” blog: [English translation by Google] - http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://belduque.blogspot.com/2006/12/encuentran-crculos-en-pastizales-en.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3DJu%25C3%25A1rez,%2BNuevo%2BLe%25C3%25B3n,%2BColonia%2BHacienda%2BReal%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DG

Also, a new report of a crop circle formation has also surfaced from south-central Tennessee [thanks to CCCRN Ontario member Joanna Emery for passing along this report]:

This formation appeared in corn (maize), sometime during the fall of 2006, and was reported to the local county Sheriff’s Dept.  The farmer insisted on keeping the formation quiet, as he did not want any visitors.  They seemed to be successful at keeping this quiet because the circles were not visible from any ground vantage point or highway.  The largest ‘circle’ with the two straight pathways coming out of it was said to be approximately 75 feet in diameter, making the whole of the formation, lengthwise – over 200 feet.  The formation appears to be somewhat irregular from the aerial photos, with the two largest of the ‘circles’ not circular at all.

The Sheriff’s Dept. did investigate, and took the aerial photograph above, as well as these two ground photos:

Again, it is difficult to make any assessment of this formation due to the poor resolution of the photographs, but in the first ground photo, it appears that the corn stalks are not jutting out into the standing corn, but actually are curved, following the contours of the circle’s edge.

The investigating sheriff noted that, although he was an experienced crime scene investigator, he only found the farmer’s footprints at the site (he doesn’t suspect the farmer had anything to do with it since he wanted to keep the whole event quiet).  The sheriff also noted during his investigation that the corn stalks had no scrape marks on them, which he evidently looked specifically for, mentioning that he had read about the crop circle hoaxers’ typical ‘board’ flattening methods on the internet.  The investigating sheriff also mentions that the direction of the swirl in the largest ‘circle’ was opposite that of the smaller, outer circles.

Again, thanks to Joanna Emery for passing this report on to us, and to author/editor Brent Raynes from Alternate Perceptions Magazine, who ran a news column on this report in Alternate Perceptions Magazine Issue 108, Jan 2007.  At this time no further details are known about the formation, other than it has been harvested, and that the farmer and the investigating sheriff are declining to talk any further about the formation.

I will pass along any additional details of these formations as the ICCRA receives word.  Feel free to pass this report on to anyone you feel may be interested.

Lastly, I also wanted to mention that the ICCRA has finally confirmed the date of the 4th Annual ICCRA Pre-season Crop Circle Meeting – it will be held April 27-29 at Woodland Altars, Peebles, Ohio.  I will be sending out a proper notice for the event in the next day or so.
