Cropcircle at Ubachsberg (L) Holland.

(a report of Ed Vos)

On Saturday 3-6-2000, The DCW (Dutch Crop circle Webring) received a message from Ludwig de Vocht, who drove on the highway A 76 from Heerlen To Aachen (B), and discovered the crop circle formation. This field has been host for crop circles in 1993 (Planets pictogram) and in the Dutch crop circle top year 1996.  In the phone call I had with the landowner, it seemed he didn’t had knowledge of the fact there was a crop formation in his field. Afterwards reconstructing, it came out the formation appeared in the night from 31-5-2000- to 1-6-2000.
Going into the formation, off course using the tramlines, it came out the tramlines were not used before. No footsteps were found, so we came into a "clear" formation. The stems of the young vegetation were not broken, but bent. The weather was perfect for growing vegetary, so the laying crop was growing in vertical direction again. Measurements in the formation didn’t show any significant deviations of the compass used, within, and outside the formation. Remarkable is that my GSM phone didn’t work inside the formation, although it received enough signal. Real interesting information was received by me, from Karin and Peter, who I met in the formation. They told me the field was
part of a large construction of lines of fractures.

The formation appeared in the field which is known as the " Benzenraderbreuk", being part of the "Rijdalslenk", to which also other lines of fractures belong, such as the "Feldbies" and the "peellandbreuk". This line of fracture did arise 35 million years ago, during the Oligoceen. On the top of the hills chalk is to be found. In the lower parts Carbon is closer to the surface, and chalk is deeper to be found.

This information is good to be seen in the landscape. The part of Holland called Limburg has a specific outlook. The area the crop formation appeared in, is very different for that area. The field the formation appeared in, seems to be lowered in the landscape.

UPDATE

Some people thought the formation has changed, in the way in the largest  circle, in the central part, The standing stems were flattened afterwards. The landowner told so.  A reconstruction tells, he was wrong. In a phone call with the landowner on 14-6-2000, he told me the formation should be changed in the night of 5 to 6 June. Other persons suggested other date's. Of course I did check it all.

Date's and facts:

31-05-2000 The Farmer inspects the field, and no crop circle was found.
01-06-2000 The formation is seen in the field.
01-06-2000 An eye witness reports, the biggest circle in the formation has a circle in it with standing crop.  A structure is to be seen (The two holes in it)
03-06-2000 Ludwig de Vocht from Belgium reports the formation at the Dutch Crop circle Webring.

After this report, I had a phone call with the farmer. He didn't even know there was a crop circle, he heard it from me. Later that day I called him again, and he told me, there really was a formation.  04-06-2000 I myself visits the formation, and make a drawing of  it, Also pictures were taken.
06-06-2000 According to the farmer, the crop circle should have changed. in the night from 5-6 to 6-6-2000.  08-06-2000 Frank Laumen from Germany, visits the formation, and takes  pictures. His pictures show the same landscape of the crop circle as I photographed it, and the eyewitness saw on 1-6-2000.

This facts make quite clear, the formation didn't change at all.  I suppose the farmer overlooked the two holes in the centre part of the largest circle, the first time he saw the formation

I'd like to share this information with all of you, and thank all   persons, that gave me the more detailed information.

A few days after my visit of the formation, I became in contact with the 15 years old boy Hans ter Horst, who told me he had a special light orb on a picture taken in the formation. Because I also research the Light phenomenon, (also to be found on my website) I asked him to sent me the photograph. Because of my profession as a photographer, I examined the picture. The phenomenon was not to be explained in a normal, photographical way. It really is a very special picture of the phenomenon, as it is often photographed in crop circles and other power places. I thank Hans ter Horst for sending me the photographical material.

On June 1, 2000, a formation was discovered in a field of wheat at Ubachsberg, near Heerlen, in the province of Limburg. According to the owning farmer the formation originally consisted of a bigger ring accompanied by two smaller rings and a semi-circle that was attached to the tramline. When
investigators arrived at the scene the bigger ring has changed as a circle and a circle-segment were now attached on opposite sites to the inner perimeter of the ring, changing now the former standing central circle into some kind of bulged crescent. This second sate is documented by the accompanying picture.

Data
Rings: about 25m - 10m - 10m diameter
Semi-circle:3,7m radii

The same site played host in 1993 to the first Dutch formation that became famous in 1993 and to a formation in 1996.

Thanks to Frank Laumen and Bert Janssen for providing information and photos.

I discovered a crop circle in The Netherlands in Ubachsberg near the city of Heerlen on June 2nd in exactly the same field where in 1993 a pictogram was found. The new pictogram can be seen from the motorway leading to Aachen. The pictogram of this year consists of three rings - the biggest of which contains a circle - and half a circle. The pictogram was created in barley. Geographically the area of South Limburg is very similar to the Avebury area as it is rich in marl limestone.
