Further to my last e mail I now have the following information (which you might have already received from other sources, but I thought it important to let you know). Apparently not only the editor of the magazine KARMA 7(which I told you about) went to the scene of the circles BUT also the director of a more prestigious magazine called MAS ALLA, called Javier Sierra. Yesterday they printed their findings in their magazine which I have translated for you:-

Two enigmatic circles appear in a field in Lleida County.

"This mystery started at the beginning of February when Josep Gaya and his wife Dolores Piņol discovered that an enormous circle of 26 metres in diameter
and two metres wide, circling another small one of 5.90 metres, had destroyed their crop.
The circles were no means perfect but the plants that formed the circle appeared to be
" Burnt" by some form of pesticide. Nothing more would have been said about it, if it
wasn't for the fact that 10 days later they discovered a SECOND circle of 36 metres diameter
encircling a smaller one of 4.60 metres! As far as they were concerned this "JOKE" had gone too far, so they called
in the police and then of course the article was published in the local Catalan newspapers( EL PERIODICO and THE VANGUARDIA) and then became
national news item for a day.
The police said it was a joke made by some hooligans with pesticides and left it at that! Meanwhile Javier Serra of Mas Alla ( you can contact them on sierra@mcediciones.es) decided to investigate properly. A Geiger counter test was taken and NO Radioactivity was detected. Soil samples were taken to the labs in Madrid and Barcelona. Plant samples were taken to the lab in Madrid called CIEMAT who confirmed that there was NO RADIOACTIVE element traces in the plants. (speculation was made that radiation made by Microwaves could have "Burnt" the plants, but at time of printing there was no confirmation of that ). Meanwhile other UFOlogists took plant samples to a Lab in Alicante called CUDAM These labs concluded that whatever it was that did this it WAS NOT a Herbicide or in fact ANY OTHER CHEMICAL AGENT!! . They analysed half a kilo of plants and contrasted them with a list of Pesticides and Organochlorides commonly used/found and only found the HCH group present , in proportions of 362mg per Kilo in the green crop and 216mg in the "Burnt" crop. This is a perfectly acceptable, normal level which they would expect to find in any crop and would in NO WAY affect or Damage the crop." Investigators are still puzzled as to why a second marking would appear posterior to the first one , in the same field next to the first one, when "they" (whoever made them) could have chosen any other field in the whole county. Unfortunately while everybody was mulling over this idea (police and ufo investigators etc) ANOTHER circle appeared in a village called MONTOLIU ( in the same county of Lleida). THIS TIME the analysis showed clear signs of a herbicide commonly known as GRAMASONE which HAD been sprayed around the field forming a "perfect" circle. From this point on the authorities have felt more inclined to "right off" the first circles at Omellons as a hoax." watch this space.
UPDATE #1
The location was visited on the 12th of March ( a friend who lives 2 kilometers from that village phoned me with the story) . I took photos with my digital camera and took samples of the wheat.
Firstly: The wheat circles were in immature wheat about 3
centimetres high. The circles had been formed by a sort of "Burn" mark which the
farmers and locals recognised as being Sulphate (which is very commonly used as insecticide
here in Spain.) Secondly. the wheat which marked out the circles was not "laying down" as in
UK crops circles but was "Dead". I.e. completely dried up. This is a typical
reaction (which I have seen in many occasions before, when a farmer accidentally
sprays Sulphate and the wind takes it onto a neighbouring wheat field.( obviously in this particular case it had been done in a
deliberate manner probably pouring the Sulphate in a circle) Thirdly. there is a sort of Magazine called KARMA-7 (bit like Kindred Spirit
but not as good quality) whose director came rushing over from Barcelona to see the
fields thinking it might be signs of UFO landing). when he looked at it, he also thought it was manmade using
Sulphate, and he also took samples to have analysed. So far he has not had any surprising results, otherwise
you can be sure he would have published it in his magazine, and/or I would have got to hear about it through the grapevine.
The only question mark about this episode as far as I can see is why anyone would do this in somebody's field?? Maybe its a sort of local "vendetta"
between farmers and their workers OR maybe its a hoax of some UFO fanatics who would love to see something like this talked about as it is in the
UK..........well they got their wish for a day or so!

A formation of two circles was discovered in a field of wheat near the village of Els Omellons in
Spain's Barcelona province. The two circles measured 36m and 26m in diameter and were reported by
Spain's newspaper 'El Periodico' on March 11, 2000. Again the newspaper and locals believe the formation to be just a hoax, well
that's not new, BUT with these two circles it seems that we have received the first real 'crop'-circle formation of 2000.
