Reconstruction of the
2012 Chalk Pit formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct two inscribed equilateral triangles of circle 1, one pointing to the left, one to the right.

3. Construct a circle passing through the upper and lower mutual intersections of triangles 2 and through the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline.

4. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the upper mutual intersection of triangles 2.

5. Copy circle 4 to the lefthand intersection of circle 3 and the horizontal centerline, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own righthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.

6. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection and passing through the lefthand intersection of circle 5 and the horizontal centerline.

7. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 6 at the righthand side.

8. Construct a circle concentric to circle 6, tangent to circle 7 at the lefthand side.

9. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 8 at the righthand side.

10. Construct a circle concentric to circle 6, tangent to circle 9 at the lefthand side.

11. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 10 at the righthand side.

12. Construct a circle concentric to circle 6, tangent to circle 11 at the lefthand side.

13. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 12 at the righthand side.

14. Construct a circle concentric to circle 6, tangent to circle 13 at the lefthand side.

15. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 14 at the righthand side.

16. Construct a circle concentric to circle 6, tangent to circle 15 at the lefthand side.

17. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 16 at the righthand side.

18. Draw a line from the center of circle 1 to the lower lefthand angular point of triangles 2, and extend this line downwards to circle 17.

19. Copy circle 3 to the intersection of circle 17 and line 18.

20. Circles 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 19, are used for the final reconstruction.

21. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.

22. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

23. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2012 Chalk Pit formation.

24. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
