Reconstruction of the
2010 Codford St Peter formation |
| 1. |
| Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
| 2. |
| Construct the inscribed dodecagon (regular twelve-sided polygon) of circle 1, pointing to the right.
| 3. |
| Copy circle 1 twelve times, to the angular points of dodecagon 2.
| 4. |
| Construct a circle passing through the first set of mutual intersections of circles 3 from the center of circle 1.
| 5. |
| Construct the inscribed square of circle 4, sides horizontally and vertically.
| 6. |
| Construct the inscribed square of circle 4, pointing to the right.
| 7. |
| Construct a circle, passing through the intersections of squares 5 and 6.
| 8. |
| Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 7 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to the righthand sides of square 6.
| 9. |
| Copy circle 8 to the center of circle 1.
| 10. |
| Draw the twelve rays of dodecagon 2, from the center of circle 1 to the angular points. Mark the upper righthand ray as "a", as shown.
| 11. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the intersection of ray 10a and the upper side of square 5.
| 12. |
| Construct the circumscribed square of circle 7, sides horizontally and vertically.
| 13. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the intersection of ray 10a and the upper side of square 12.
| 14. |
| Construct the inscribed circle of dodecagon 2.
| 15. |
| Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the two end-points of a centerline) between the righthand intersections of circles 1 and 14 with the horizontal centerline.
| 16. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 15.
| 17. |
| Copy circles 7, 9, 11 and 13 twelve times, to the intersections of circle 16 and rays 10.
| 18. |
| Construct a "two-points" circle between the center of circle 8 and its lefthand intersection with the horizontal centerline.
| 19. |
| Copy circles 15 and 18 twelve times, to the mutual intersections of circles 3 just outside circles 17, as shown. See also detail.
| 20. |
| Circles 1, 7, 9, 14, 17 and 19, are used for the final reconstruction.
| 21. |
| Remove all parts not present in the formation itself.
| 22. |
| Colour all areas corresponding to standing...
| 23. |
| ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2010 Codford St Peter formation.
