Reconstruction of the
2010 Ufton formation |
1. |
| Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
2. |
| Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline, passing through the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline.
3. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 2 at the lefthand side.
4. |
| Copy circle 2 to the lefthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline.
5. |
| Construct four inscribed equilateral triangles of circle 1, one pointing up, one down, one to the left, one to the right.
6. |
| Construct the circumscribed dodecagon (regular 12-sided polygon) of circle 1, with the midpoint of one side coincident with the righthand intersection of circle 1 and the horizontal centerline.
7. |
| Construct the circumscribed circle of dodecagon 6.
8. |
| Draw the twelve rays of dodecagon 6, from the center of circle 1 to the angular points.
9. |
| Construct two inscribed hexagons (regular 6-sided polygons) of circle 3, one with an angular point at the upper lefthand ray 8, the other at the upper righthand ray 8, as shown.
10. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the mutual intersections of hexagons 9.
11. |
| Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 10, pointing up.
12. |
| Construct the inscribed circle of triangle 11.
13. |
| Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the two end-points of a centerline) between the lefthand intersections of circles 1 and 7 with the horizontal centerline.
14. |
| Copy circle 13 to the lefthand intersection of circle 3 and the horizontal centerline, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own corresponding intersection.
15. |
| Construct a circle concentric to circle 2, tangent to circle 14 at the lefthand side.
16. |
| Copy circle 13 to the righthand intersection of circle 3 and the horizontal centerline.
17. |
| Construct two circles concentric to circle 4, tangent to circle 16 at both sides.
18. |
| Copy circle 2 twelve times, to the intersections of circle 1 and rays 8.
19. |
| Copy circle 2 ten times, to the other angular points of triangles 5, except for the leftmost one.
20. |
| Circles 1, 2, 3, 7, 12, 15, 17, 18 and 19, are used for the final reconstruction.
21. |
| Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.
22. |
| Colour all areas corresponding to standing...
23. |
| ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2010 Ufton formation.
