Reconstruction of the 2009 Morgan's Hill formation | ||
1.
Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
2.
Copy circle 1 to its upper intersection with the vertical centerline, and move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own corresponding intersection.
3.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 2 at the upper side.
4.
Construct the inscribed hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) of circle 3, pointing up.
5.
Copy circle 1 to the upper angular point of hexagon 4.
6.
Copy circle 1 two times, to the lower lefthand and righthand angular points of hexagon 4.
7.
Copy circle 1 three times, to the three other angular points of hexagon 4.
8.
Copy circle 1 to the upper intersection of circle 5 and the vertical centerline, and move it to its own corresponding intersection.
9.
Copy circle 1 to the upper intersection of circle 8 and the vertical centerline.
10.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the center of circle 9.
11.
Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 10, pointing up.
12.
Copy circle 1 two times, to the lower lefthand and righthand angular points of triangle 11.
13.
Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the end-points of a centerline), between the righthand intersections of hexagon 4 and circle 3 with the horizontal centerline.
14.
Construct a "two-points" circle between the center of circle 13 and the righthand intersection of circle 3 and the horizontal centerline.
15.
Copy circle 14 to the center of circle 5.
16.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 15 at the lower side.
17.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 15 at the upper side.
18.
Copy circle 14 to the center of circle 9.
19.
Construct two parallel lines, tangent to circles 15 and 18 at both sides.
20.
Repeat steps 15, 18 and 19 two times, for the corresponding pairs of circles 6 and 12, as shown.
21.
Circles 1, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 16 and 17, and lines 19 and 20, are used for the final reconstruction.
22.
Remove all redundant parts not visible within the formation itself.
23.
Colour all areas corresponding to standing...
24.
...or to flattened plants, and finish the reconstruction of the 2009 Morgan's Hill formation.
25.
The final result, matched with the aerial image.
