Reconstruction of the
2009 Grey Wethers formation
1. Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
2. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing up.
3. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing down.
4. Construct a circle, passing through the top of triangle 2, and passing through the lefthand and righthand intersections of triangles 2 and 3.
5. Construct a circle, passing through the lower righthand angular point of triangle 2, and passing through the lower lefthand and upper righthand intersections of triangles 2 and 3.
6. Construct a circle, passing through the lower lefthand angular point of triangle 2, and passing through the lower righthand and upper lefthand intersections of triangles 2 and 3.
7. Construct the inscribed circle of circles 4, 5 and 6, as shown.
8. Draw six rays, from the center of circle 1 to the angular points of triangles 2 and 3, and extend these rays, as shown. Number the rays counterclockwise 1 through 6, starting with the upper righthand one.
9. Copy circle 4 to its intersection with ray 8 nr. 2. Move this circle (copy and delete original) to its own corresponding intersection.
10. Copy circle 5 to its intersection with ray 8 nr. 6, and move this circle to its own corresponding intersection.
11. Copy circle 6 to its intersection with ray 8 nr. 4, and move this circle to its own corresponding intersection.
12. Construct a "two-points" circle (defined by the end-points of a centerline) between the intersection of circle 4 and ray 8 nr. 5, and the upper intersection of circle 9 and ray 8 nr. 2.
13. Construct a "two-points" circle between the intersection of circle 5 and ray 8 nr. 3, and the lower righthand intersection of circle 10 and ray 8 nr. 6.
14. Construct a "two-points" circle between the intersection of circle 6 and ray 8 nr. 1, and the lower lefthand intersection of circle 11 and ray 8 nr. 4.
15. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 7 and the vertical centerline, passing through the lower intersection of circles 1 and 14.
16. Copy circle 15 to the center of circle 1.
17. Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 7 and the horizontal centerline, passing through the intersection of circle 7 and ray 8 nr. 3.
18. Copy circle 17 to the center of circle 1.
19. Construct a circle centered at the upper intersection of circle 16 and the vertical centerline, tangent to circle 18 at the upper side.
20. Copy circle 19 to the upper intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline.
21. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 20 at the upper side.
22. Copy circle 7 to the center of circle 9.
23. Construct a "two-points" circle between the upper intersections of circles 16 and 19 with the vertical centerline.
24. Copy circle 23 to the lower intersection of circle 22 and the vertical centerline.
25. Construct two circles concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 24 at both sides.
26. Copy circle 23 to the center of circle 22.
27. Construct two circles concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 26 at both sides.
28. Copy circle 23 to the upper intersection of circle 24 and the vertical centerline.
29. Construct a circle concentric to circle 22, tangent to circle 28 at the upper side.
30. Construct a "two-points" circle between the upper intersections of circles 24 and 28 with the vertical centerline.
31. Construct a circle concentric to circle 22, passing through the center of circle 30.
32. Construct a "two-points" circle between the lower intersections of circles 26 and 29 with the vertical centerline.
33. Construct a "two-points" circle between the lower intersection of circle 26 and the upper intersection of circle 29, both with the vertical centerline.
34. Copy circle 19 two times, to the centers of circles 32 and 33.
35. Remove from circles 22, 29, 31, 32, 33 and 34 all parts not visible within the formation itself.
36. Copy pattern 35 two times, to the centers of circles 10 and 11, while rotating with respect to the center of circle 1, as shown.
37. Copy circle 23 to the center of circle 1.
38. Draw the connecting line between the upper intersections of circles 7 and 37 with the vertical centerline, and divide this line into thirteen equal parts. Number the division-points from top to bottom a through l.
39. Draw the connecting line between the lower intersections of circles 7 and 37 with the vertical centerline, and divide this line into thirteen equal parts. Number the division-points from top to bottom a through l.
40. Construct four "two-points" circles, between 38a and 39k, 38a and 39j, 38c and 39i, and 38c and 39h.
41. Construct four "two-points" circles, between 38e and 39k, 38f and 39j, 38g and 39i, and 38h and 39h.
42. Construct four "two-points" circles, between 38e and 39g, 38f and 39f, 38g and 39e, and 38h and 39d.
43. Construct four "two-points" circles, between 38i and 39g, 38j and 39f, 38k and 39e, and 38l and 39d.
44. Construct two "two-points" circles, between 38i and 38j, and between 38k and 38l.
45. Remove from circles 40, 41, 42, 43 and 44 all parts not visible within the formation itself.
46. Circles 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 21, 25, 27 and 37, and patterns 35, 36 and 45 are used for the final reconstruction.
47. Remove all parts not visible within the formation itself.
48. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...
49. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2009 Grey Wethers formation.
50. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
