The Golden Ratio and
the West Kennett Crop Circle
(June 6 2008)
General
The June 6 crop circle
invokes the esoteric symbolism associated with the Vesica Pisces
(ref
1), in addition to the eclipse interpretations. Further, from a mathematical
viewpoint, this circle looks to feature the Golden Ratio, Phi.
Several portions of the crop
circle are defined in the attached figure, and will be used in the
following discussion.
Golden Ratio
A heavily referenced number
in the analysis of natural phenomena and man-made artistry, is the
Golden Ratio Phi, which is equal to about 1.618 (ref
2). From a mathematical viewpoint, the crop circle design looks
to encode the Golden Ratio Phi in several independent ways.
Method #1
First, with reference to the
figure and the standing crop sections
A 1 central pisces (lens)
B (dot) the standing “gnomon” at the tip of the pisces
C 6 triangular segments
D 1 segment of opposing circle
E 8 overall shape of the crop circle
==
1.618
The small semi-circle “F” is
discussed in Method #3.
Method #2
A second approach to Phi is
to simply compare the angles defined by standing (undisturbed,
“natural”) crop in each circle to the 360 degrees in a circle.
360 deg Circle 1 has no major portions down
222.5
deg Circle 2 has about 137.5 deg disturbed
(222.5 = 360 - 137.5)
======
582.5 deg
1.618 Fraction of the total undisturbed (natural) crop
angle
= 582.5 / 360
Measurement of the
undisturbed angle in the second circle was uncertain within several
degrees of 220; given the results shown above, 222.5 deg seemed
intended. A confirmation of this angle would help clarify whether
this was an intended meaning designed into this circle.
Method #3
A third more detailed
approach to the Golden Ratio as related to the Vesica Pisces is
given in Ref 3
. There, Phi is formulated as: Phi = SquareRoot
(5) / 2 + 1 / 2
This could be an
interpretation of the fifth triangle cut in half (C
5,1
and C 5,2), with the cut line square
against the tram-line, and the central half-circle “F” at its root.
Closing
The downed triangular crop
sections are reminiscent of the rays of a rising (or setting) sun.
Additionally, a sun in eclipse would produce the same effect; this
interpretation and its application to the upcoming August 1 2008
solar eclipse, are presented in relation to this crop circle. To have designed so many
meanings into this crop circle points to a high level of
Intelligence, and full coordination of its Creative and Rational
aspects Finally, as a type of aside, the popular 10:10 position of
an unused clock hands comes to mind when viewing the crop circle:
The most (popular theory of the 10:10) is because
the hands look like the clock has a 'smile' on its face instead of a
frown and it frames the manufacturer’s trademark .….. Manufacturers
want you to see their product smiling' at you!"
