Reconstruction of the
2008 Liddington Castle formation

1. Draw a circle. Draw the horizontal and vertical centerlines.

2. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing down.

3. Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing up.

4. Construct a circle centered at the mid-point of the lower side of triangle 3, tangent to both lower sides of triangle 2.

5. Copy circle 4 six times, to the six mutual intersections of triangles 2 and 3.

6. Draw the connecting line between the lower intersection of the upper righthand circle 5 and the righthand side of triangle 3, and the upper intersection of the lower righthand circle 5 and the righthand side of triangle 2.

7. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to line 6.

8. Construct a circle centered at the lower intersection of circle 1 and the vertical centerline, tangent to both lower circles 5 at the upper sides.

9. Copy circle 8 two times, to the other angular points of triangle 2.

10. Copy circle 8 three times, to the angular points of triangle 3.

11. Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, passing through the mutual intersections of circles 8, 9 and 10.

12. Construct a circle concentric to circle 8, tangent to circle 11 at the lower side.

13. Copy circle 12 two times, to the centers of circles 9.

14. Triangles 2 and 3, and circles 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13, are used for the final reconstruction.

15. Remove all parts not visible in the formation itself.

16. Colour all areas corresponding to standing...

17. ...or to flattened crop, and finish the reconstruction of the 2008 Liddington Castle formation.

18. The final result, matched with the aerial image.
