Reconstruction of the 2008 Hodson formation | ||
1.
Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
2.
Construct the inscribed square of circle 1, pointing to the right.
3.
Construct the inscribed circle of square 2.
4.
Construct the inscribed pentagon (regular 5-sided polygon) of circle 3, pointing up.
5.
Construct the inscribed circle of pentagon 4.
6.
Construct the inscribed pentagon of circle 5, pointing down. Notice, that 4 (square 2) x 5 (pentagon 4) x 5 (pentagon 6) = 100!
7.
Construct a circle, the centerline (diameter) of which coincides with the upper side of pentagon 6.
8.
Copy circle 7 to the center of circle 1.
9.
Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 5 and the horizontal centerline.
10.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 9 at the righthand side.
11.
Copy circle 7 to the righthand intersection of circle 10 and the horizontal centerline.
12.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 11 at the righthand side.
13.
Construct a "two-points" circle, defined by the end-points of a centerline (diameter), between the intersection of the upper side of pentagon 6 and the upper intersection of circle 5, both with the vertical centerline.
14.
Copy circle 13 to the righthand intersection of circle 12 and the horizontal centerline.
15.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 14 at the righthand side.
16.
Construct the inscribed regular 100-sided polygon of circle 12, pointing to the right.
17.
Draw the 100 rays of polygon 16, from the center of circle 1 to the angular points. Number the rays counterclockwise, starting with 0 for the rightmost ray, as shown.
18.
Remove all rays 17, except for the parts of rays nrs. 1, 8, 60 and 84 in between circles 8 and 5, for the parts of rays nrs. 4, 33, 50, 69, 91 and 94 in between circles 3 and 10, and for the parts of rays nrs. 9, 18, 35, 48, 77 and 95 in between circles 1 and 12, as shown.
19.
Circles 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 12 and 15, and lines 18 are used for the final reconstruction.
20.
Remove all other parts not visible within the formation itself.
21.
Colouring all areas corresponding to standing...
22.
...or to flattened crop, will complete the reconstruction of the 2008 Hodson formation.
