| Reconstruction of the 2004 Wilton Windmill formation | ||
| 1. | | Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines. |
| 2. | | Create the inscribed regular six-pointed star of circle 1, by constructing two inscribed equilateral triangles, one pointing up, one pointing down. |
| 3. | | Construct the circumscribed circle of the hexagon (regular 6-sided polygon) enclosed by triangles 2. |
| 4. | | Create the circumscribed regular six-pointed star of circle 1, by constructing two circumscribed equilateral triangles, one pointing up, one pointing down. |
| 5. | | Construct the circumscribed circle of star (triangles) 4. |
| 6. | | Extend all sides of triangles 2 in both directions up to circle 5, as shown. |
| 7. | | Draw the connecting line between the two intersections of circle 5 and lines 6, immediately to the right of the vertical centerline, as shown. |
| 8. | | Construct a circle centered on the horizontal centerline, tangent to line 7, and tangent to circle 1 at the righthand side. |
| 9. | | Copy circle 8 to the center of circle 1. |
| 10. | | Construct a circle centered on the vertical centerline, tangent to circles 1 and 3, both at the lower side. |
| 11. | | Copy circle 10 twelve times, to all intersections of circle 5 and lines 6. |
| 12. | | Construct a circle centered on the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 3 on the right, and tangent to circle 8 on the left. |
| 13. | | Copy circle 12 to the center of circle 1. |
| 14. | | Copy circle 12 three times, centered on the horizontal centerline, tangent to each other, and the righthand one tangent to circle 13 on the left, as shown. |
| 15. | | Construct a circle concentric to circle 13, tangent to the rightmost circle 14 at the lefthand side. |
| 16. | | Construct two circles concentric to circle 13, tangent to the other two circles 14 at the lefthand side. |
| 17. | | Construct a circle centered at the righthand intersection of circle 13 and the horizontal centerline, tangent to circle 13 at the lefthand side. |
| 18. | | Construct three circles concentric to circle 17, tangent to circles 14 at the lefthand sides, as shown. |
| 19. | | Circles, triangles and lines 2, 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 18 make up the necessary parts for the final reconstruction. |
| 20. | | Leave out all parts not visible in the formation itself. |
| 21. | | Colour all areas corresponding to standing... |
| 22. | | ...or to flattened crop. This will conclude the reconstruction of the 2004 Wilton Windmill formation. |
| 23. | | The final result, matched with the aerial images. |
