The
lines joining all the circles are actually original parts of the
formation and all the circles were anticlockwise. The two lines from
the top circle out of the frame are visitor tracks, as are the lines
coming out off all the circles and heading off out of frame.
The side bars coming out of the avenue between the top two circles in
the image seem to have been part of the original formation.
The centre of the tramline just above the largest circle has been
flattened in a left to right direction as seen in the frame for the
full length of the tramline in the field. Who did it, when it was done
or why I am not certain.

REPORT UPDATE 18082004
I finally went inside the Mepershall Road,
Shillington formation of June 30th today, there is a good view of
deacon hill from it as well as the prominent church on a hill at
Shillington-this is one of those churches that kept being moved
mysteriously until they gave in and built it in the right place! To the
north of the formation is a motte and bailey at Meppershall. both these
formations had an aura of peace and tranquillity
