Reconstruction of the 2004 Loose Bottom formation | ||
1.
Draw a circle. Draw and extend the horizontal and vertical centerlines.
2.
Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing up.
3.
Construct the inscribed equilateral triangle of circle 1, pointing down.
4.
Construct the circumscribed circle of the lowest triangle, enclosed by triangles 2 and 3.
5.
Copy circle 4 to the center of circle 1.
6.
Copy circle 4 to its lower intersection with the vertical centerline.
7.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 6 at the lower side.
8.
Draw the three rays of triangle 3, from the center of circle 1, and extend these up to circle 7.
9.
Copy circle 4 to the intersection of circle 7 and the lower ray 8.
10.
Copy circle 4 two times, to the intersections of circle 7 with the other two rays 8.
11.
Draw the connecting line between both intersections of circles 4 and 6.
12.
Construct a circle centered at the intersection of circle 1 and lower ray 8, tangent to line 11.
13.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 12 at the near side.
14.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 1, tangent to circle 12 at the far side.
15.
Construct a circle concentric to circle 9, tangent to circle 12 at the upper side.
16.
Copy circle 15 two times, to the centers of circles 10.
17.
Extend rays 8 up to the outer sides of circles 15 and 16.
18.
Copy circle 12 six times, to the intersections of circles 15 and 16 with circle 14.
19.
Copy circle 12 three times, to the intersections of circles 15 and 16 with lines 17 (extended rays 8).
20.
Circles 1, 5, 9, 10, 13, 18 and 19 make up the constituent parts of the reconstruction. These circles are all fully visible in the formation itself.
21.
Colour all parts, corresponding to standing...
22.
...or to flattened crop. This finishes the reconstruction of the 2004 Loose Bottom formation.
23.
The final result, matched with the aerial image, shows a good fit on most places.
