THE SEASON BEGINS IN WILTSHIRE
(LOCATION REPORT 1)
THE RIDGEWAY PATH
The
day certainly turned out to be totally different to what was
originally planned for us on the last day in May. Instead of
filming a presentation on the White Horses, we suddenly found
ourselves jostled into the new crop circle season.
The stunning formation along the Ridgeway was waiting for us, and
we obliged, but the day wasn't without its technical problems.
On arrival at the airstrip, we suited up for the first flight of
the season. The weather was swiftly closing in on
us. Our pilot was anxious to fly, due to rather strong winds, and
we were soon airborne. The camera was functioning perfectly, and
shots were taken around the formation. On our arrival back at the
airstrip, we found that the flight had to be taken again. The
camera developed a fault of some kind, and the first piece of
footage was ruined. So up we went again, as the conditions became
worst by the minute. However the second shoots were perfect, and
we left rather anxious to enter the formation, as we gazed at the
increasing cloud layer in the sky.
The formation was a treat, set within a bowl within an exceptional
Barley field. It was the perfect location for the first major
event in Wiltshire. The floor construction was very neat,
and we had to take great care not to spoil it. The whole area was
surrounded by ancient landmarks, The Ridgeway being one of
them, with several burial mounds surrounding the formation, adding
the air of mystery to the whole experience. The whole
formation lifted my spirits, and was just the tonic to start us
off with the new 2004 DVD.

THE 2004 VIDEO BEGINS!
The season has
started off well for us all on the video unit. We have a wonderful
circle to film from the air and on the ground. We found ourselves
enveloped by this articulate formation with its clean cut design
and precise lay. The unit and Stuart were soon up and running
inspired by the artistry that lay all about them. The weather was
becoming ominous with rising winds and drops of rain in the air.
We pressed on with project with a sense of urgency. Immediately I
became aware of the presence of the ancient burial mounds that
over looked the formation and the feeling that the spirits of our
ancestors seemed to be homing in on this remarkable event. It was
a wonderful privilege to be filming this mysterious formation.
