LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

On the eastern slopes of the ancient encampment of Windmill Hill, we received the third formation to appear at this location. A place well known for formations ever since the early days of crop circling, so its not surprising that we keep on finding ourselves back at this hillside.

The third formation reminded all of us who had the pleasure to visit it, that Barley at this time of the season, is certainly the most amazing crop to be within. On the day we entered the formation, the weather was conducive to creating waves across the field, which from a photographic point of view was an absolute dream.

Since my involvement with crop circles, I have been writing about all different facets of experiencing these designs within the landscape. Windmill Hill is an excellent example of how we interact with the crop circles, on a very subtle level.

We have seen other formations within this particular field, situated on the higher slopes, towards the very top of Windmill Hill, which is were the encampment is situated, with its burial mounds and enclosures.

In 1999 we witnessed a huge temple foundation design, which on further inspection was amazingly aligned to the tumuli’s further up the hill. In fact the alignment was certainly no coincidence. Several ley lines running from east to west exactly enclosed the design

At this moment in time we are unsure if the formation from this year, has any similar characteristics to other formations,, but there was certainly an association with the previous formation of 2002

From the air, it became apparent that the 2003 formation has quite perfectly placed itself directly next to the ghost outline of the 2002 formation. As many of you know, the designs from the previous year can still sometimes be seen within the current crop, as what we call “Ghost formations”. Well the 2002 Windmill Hill crop circle was very apparent, but once again, we see a possible connection or message that is being conveyed here.

The location is very mysterious, as I can remember back in 2000, we had an unusual design, with circles and avenues. When we arrived, we were amazingly looking to the skies, not at the ground, as we witnessed probably the most unusual cloud formation I have every seen! A huge tube of cloud that was rotating over several miles above us, directly over the formation itself! This place was certainly creating an atmosphere unlike any other place in the Avebury area.

On returning to 2003, we witness also a resemblance of other formation within this design. In 1996, Littlebury Green formation also included the central part of the 2003 Windmill Design. Also in 1999 at Hackpen Hill, I can see very similar geometry parallels as well, which is fascinating. We can find many other designs that will include similarities of this type of geometry, so this is certainly an ongoing style which we haven’t seen the last of , I am sure.

These drawings and geometrical analysis are provisional.
They may differ slightly to the originals in the field and I welcome feedback/ corrections
 and better solutions.

Five 'crescent moons' interlock. Each of these has a bisection-line thru its centre, which just touches the tips of all four other crescents. Thus the latent pentagram emerges. The inner pentagon defines the centres used for constructing the outer crescents.     There are five small inner crescents, and their arcs if extended will just touch the 'latent pentagon' sides.

VALE OF PEWSEY - During the early hours of June 22, 2003, brilliant lightning bolts without thunder, or rain hit the area.  Shortly after midnight, until well after sunrise, bizarre orange lightening bolts shot around the sky even though the air was very calm and still near Avebury, in Wiltshire.  Orange lightening was also seen to leap between the clouds and orange lightening appeared in the form of a momentary circular glow in the clouds, as though the affected clouds had been punched-through by a giant cookie-cutter.  Another bizarre factor was that these orange lightening bolts frequently occurred in pairs, with a separation of something less than a second. We were situated on Knapp Hill, and the orange lightening bolts formed an arc across the horizon in front of us, and our area remained unaffected.  This relative calmness ended at around 7 AM, when the wind picked-up speed, and the clouds blew over our area.  As dark clouds massed overhead, a barrage of small hailstones and heavy rain hammered down on our car.  East field, directly below us, was then pummelled by normal looking, blue-white lightening and ear-splitting thunder.  This location is known as being a hot spot for crop circles, and UFOs.
