AT THE MIDDLE WOODFORD
CROP FORMATION & SINGLE CIRCLE, THE CONNECTOR TEAM REALISED THAT THEY
HAD BEEN AT THIS LOCATION BEFORE!
On a
rather dull and raining afternoon in the south of Wiltshire, we
arrived at the location of the latest formation and circle site. It is
situated right next to the busy A360 on the main road towards the town
of Salisbury.
As
we pulled up in the car, to take roadside shots of the formation, we
suddenly realised that we had been at this location before! About a 2
months (26/05/2003)
earlier we were sent on a wild goose chase down to the area of
Stonehenge, as we received a report of a formation in the vicinity of
one of the ancient wonders of the world.

It turned out that there was
no such formation, but we arrived at this very location and parked the
car thinking that they just might be something in this very field. I
remember thinking that this has great potential for a formation, as
the field is extremely elevated. To our astonishment, here we were
again, looking at the same field 2 months later, with not just one,
but two events!
These two very different and contrasting events are extremely
significant in understanding that they are two types of agencies
creating the crop circles. The single circle at this stage, I felt was
a reply to the larger formation further up the field created by a much
different agency!
The
single circle at the bottom of the slope within the field, was
exquisite in its floor construction, and certainly one of the most
complicated floor patterns I have witnessed inside a single circle.
Our time there was limited due to the lack of light, but there must
have been at least 14 different centres inside the circle. Some
beautiful swirled centres, but the majority of them were platted nest
centres, some at least 12 inches in height. A number of them were on
there own at certain intervals around the circle, but there were
bunches of them as well, in close proximity to each other. Something I
hadn’t seen before, but the bundles themselves were so tightly
platted, that it would be hard to separate them, not that you wanted
to! The floor construction included mufti directional swirls
overlapping each other, in all sorts of directions, in quite a random
fashion.
The
overall impression was that this single circle was created in a rapid
motion. It didn’t take long for this entire event to be put down! The
floor construction was like flowing water around rapids, the rapids
would be the centres, and it was quite extraordinary. But I have seen
this type of floor construction before within the
North Down formation of 2000.
I have also seen it in a single circle, which was hardly visited back
in 1991 at
Old
Down
near
Bath.
Another unusual aspect to this visit along the A360, was tat the
Farmer of the land turned up while we were taking pictures from the
roadside. He took a healthy interest in what had occurred in his
field, and wanted to know if they were genuine of not. We obliged to
show him, and of course it came as a big surprise to ourselves, as we
hadn’t expect to see two very different styles on the ground.
Due
to the lack of time on this evening, I was unable to look at the
larger formation, but hopefully a second visit will allow us to
explain the details within this formation.
