AVEBURY TRUSLOE.  A small hamlet just outside of the main village of Avebury, and an area which has remained a focus for the crop circle phenomenon since the early nineties. Once again the Connector team found themselves at this popular field for formations over the years, and actually came across the design early one Sunday morning.

The areas around the encampment of Windmill Hill, and the fields close to the A4 road, have certainly witnessed their fair share of crop circles since 1991. That was the first year we experienced two delightful dumbbell formations both at 90 degrees to each other, and in the exact same field as the 2003 design.

The design we see today is a world apart from the rather archaic looking designs of the early nineties. What we witness today is something totally different, not only in size, but at times in atmosphere to the earlier formations.  But this is all part of the evolution of the phenomenon, as we embrace an entire new generation of designs now in the new millennium. I say millennium, but of course we have no idea if this continues for another year, let alone a thousand years. If the phenomenon did stop tomorrow, then of course this field would certainly take one of the prizes for the amount of formations it has received.

I can remember several formations that have appeared since those early dumbbells. Probably the most celebrated of them all within this field would have been The Moiré from the 2000 season. An amazing formation, for different reasons. But this year’s design is certainly up there for size and geometry. Based on pentagonal geometry, and one of many appear in and around the Avebury area, based on the pentagram theme, but its message is strongly connected to the pentagram, as the proportions are screaming the words “Look at me”.  This really is a sign of arrogance from the Circle makers, or perhaps in anger or desperation for them to be understood All we can say though year after year, is that we see you, but we are getting there, as patience is required! But I do strongly feel now that time is of the essence.

A very striking design, and but at the same time, nothing we haven’t really seen before in the area! Very similar to the ‘Star’ formation back in 1997 at Bishop Cannings, with the crescents on each apex of the star resembling several parts of other designs. I feel we are witnessing a combination of different patterns from the past merging with the present. If we are to compare events from many years apart, then we truly need to understand our position within the crop circle phenomenon, and if indeed all of this is to be understood by us? This is the biggest question of them all, or are we just spectators watching a message for something else?

The presence of these designs on this scale, and power within the landscape, has to raise these types of questions, which could effect all of us on a global scale. But I have stated that we seem to be on our own personal journeys, which will eventually lead to one road and one destiny for us all. This road I believe still includes crop circles.
