This formation, which was discovered Wednesday 20th June, has turned out to be another of those rather disappointing, crudely constructed efforts that looked as if it had been smashed down with lead lined stompers, probably by the same team of clumsy corn crunchers that messed up a field at Silbury Hill the previous week. The
formation is situated some half mile from the magnificent stone circle complex
at Avebury and can be seen from the Henge itself. What
is it! A
central flattened circle surrounded by three rings, two thick and one slender,
the slender one just happens to be the width of my foot, hmmm. Surrounding this
arrangement are nine circles, (approx) 30ft diameter each, which are connected
by a path running through the center of each one. Heaps of torn and broken
plants are evident and all the wheat in central areas is heavily pressed into
the ground, unlike a real
event. The whole thing has a diameter of 200ft and is placed within a field of
immature wheat. If
this is the best these people can do I would suggest they book into circle
making school at the earliest opportunity. © Charles R Mallett |
