Oh
dear, here we go again. Yet
another ridicules and obviously hoaxed formation has been discovered.
This time the famous East Field at Alton Barnes has been the target for a
team of incompetent and clearly uncoordinated fakers. One
would think that these individuals would at least choose a field that was
mature enough to receive a formation, instead they go out in a field of
very young wheat and make a 200ft mess that, from ground level is shocking
to the eye and disappointing in the extreme at every other level. What a
shame this beautiful canvas had to be defaced in such a crass way. Do
these jokers have no respect? What
is it! A
200ft ring with a kind of 3D Pyramid and some sun-ray or wedge
shape chunks either side of the apex creating a rather Masonic looking
emblem. The whole thing is laid down in a very haphazard and trashy
manner, too many irregularities and inconsistencies to list, pathetic! UPDATE
Although
the brief field report above represents the firm opinion of the writer, it
is not an established fact that this formation is a “hoax”, our
observation and experience says it is, no doubt. However it is up to the
individual to draw their own conclusions when viewing imagery and text in
relation to any particular formation. I would concede, from a 600’ft altitude with a squint it’s not a bad effort… © Charles R Mallett |

Whilst down for the Solstice celebrations at Avebury we drove from Alton Barnes on a misty
morning at 4.00am and glanced into East Field as is a croppies wont and I may be mistaken
but I'm pretty sure there was nothing there at that point! On our return at about 7.00am imagine
our surprise to see a formation in the field, a shape that appeared to resemble a sea-shell with
the little wings at the bottom of a pentagon. I arrived home this evening and see it has been
reported but thought this tale was worth adding.
