FIELD REPORT

Whidcombe brake is a small flat area of farmland, which is part of the Chelwood Parish estate, in between the small villages of Chelwood and Marksbury.  It is an area well known to myself, as many of you know, I used to live very close to this area once. The immediate landscape around Marksbury, is now a hot spot for crop circle activity, but Whidcombe Brake was actually visited by the Circlemakers back in 1992, when we received a small ‘S’ shape design, on the slopes of Whidcombe, below its own woodland.   This latest event, is positioned, on the very top, just before the road drops down into Chelwood, but its actual location in the field, is placed directly on a footpath, leading across the field. Well, I say this, but the Farmer has wrongly sown his crops across the path. Before I carry on any further, I must stress that there are no Foot and Mouth restrictions in this area, and the path is completely open to the public. The flat plain of land around Marksbury makes it very difficult to spot crop circles when they appear, especially on Marksbury plain itself. The field is really on the edge of the plains, so the initial reaction from the road wasn’t terribly thrilling. But I have to say, entering the formation; I was pleasantly surprised by its rather neat arrangement of what many are calling the Ying and Yang symbols, placed in the central part of the formation.  However, the lay itself, was rather poor, but then again, the crop itself, wasn’t great.  Very short for Barley only a couple of feet in height, but extremely ripe for this time of year.   The overall construction seemed rather haphazard, and everything was flowing anticlockwise. Interesting that the symbols are placed back to back, almost implying that the balance has perhaps gone out of humanity?  Nevertheless, a welcomed sight, as this is still regarded as our local patch!

Location: Road just outside Marksbury, near Bath. Just past the A39 turn off to Wells (keep Shell garage on your left) It's on the left hand side. The Crop is Barley and the description of the formation appears to be some kind of propeller motif, but the lay is very poor

I noticed that the "Apostrophe's" appear, in fact, to be a split "Yin/Yang" back-to-back. I'm wondering if this could have some hidden significance or message from the "Circle Makers?"
