FIELD REPORT
New circle at Hunton Bridge near King’s Langley, Herts. First reported 28 July
2001. Visited by Mike Rogers and the local CCCS. team and photographed
by Rodney Hale 10 August 2001. Unfortunately the farmer refuses entry, but visible
from the A41 when immediately west of Hunton Bridge roundabout which is at the
end of the M25 spur to Watford. The circle is on a sound facing slope down to the
A41 below the old Leavesden Airfield.
O.S. Grid Ref: TQ 088 999, it is a simple circle, initially rumoured as nearly 300 feet
in diameter in ripening wheat , but looks less ( no tram lines to gauge size).
Somewhat scruffy in appearance, it is swirled anticlockwise with several
up-standing stalks.
Initially reported as ‘having a smell’ and with traces of ‘ the bronze dust’, all we can
say is that there is a big council tip close by and there have been recent local reports
of Sahara dust deposits on cars! It is interesting that the circle is on land farmed by
the same farmer which had several circles in the mid - 1990’s a few miles away and which Anne Silk
noted to be in a line between two big transmitter towers.
Being unable to enter the circle, it was frustrating to note two marks to the west of
the circle, which just possibly might be small satellite circles.
