FIELD REPORT

MAJOR DESIGN SURPRISES CROP CIRCLE COMMUNITY!

The fields surrounding the ancient settlement of Windmill Hill are certainly a hot spot for crop circle activity. Only last year, we received around 5 different events of various designs in size and complexity. This year, we have seen just one event so far, but it certainly was a surprise, as not many of us expected a shape of this design to appear in a rather quiet time for crop circles for the area.

We first got word that something was found on the western side of the hill, from the Microlight Centre on Yatesbury Field. One of the pilots had spotted it on their daily flight experiences, but it appeared to be a small event, or so we thought!

“It is all part of this interaction, which involves the human mind, locations, and the design itself”

The Crop Circle Connector took a flight on Sunday 15th of July 2001 and to our amazement, it was a major design with masterful execution. This was a real surprise, and I certainly couldn’t wait to get down and tell everybody. The design is not symmetrical, but this was deliberate, as you can see one side of the shape is not the same, which is part of the interlocking of one side of the formation.

The central part of the formation with the inner circle and surrounding crescent, reminds us of the Bishop Cannings formation in 2000, it has the same characteristics, and indeed people once again are drawn to the centre, than any other part of the design. This is very interesting, and

is certainly a worthy experiment in monitoring how people react to certain parts of shapes in the landscape. It is all part of this interaction, which involves the human mind, locations, and the design itself.

“This particular field has not been used before, and already we have a few reports of people who have had strange sensations in this formation”

The formation is positioned to one side of the Causeway Enclosure, in a triangular shaped field, on the northwesterly direction of Windmill Hill. This must have been a major part of the Windmill Hill settlement, and probably the main access way for people to come and go from the hill. It certainly is a powerful and very peaceful place to be. This particular field has not been used before, and already we have a few reports of people who have had strange sensations in this formation. It very interesting to note, this is quite common for an area untouched by the phenomenon. Its almost like we are not used to certain energies of the Avebury landscape, that we have not experienced before. There was without a doubt an atmosphere at this location, but it was very subtle, nothing too over powering.

The floor pattern was also very impressive, and as you can see from the aerial shots, there are small bands of channels running around the large area of crop on the large outer ring segment. This is certainly part of the transition process of the Circlemakers, but it was also visible in the inner section of the design, around the inner circle. The overall diameter was 280ft across, which is very unworldly when you look across from one side to another. But this field was extremely flat, rising slightly perhaps from Windmill Hill, but it was a delight to see everyone enjoying them-selves once again, as this has been a frustrating season because of the restrictions forced on us. Now they are lifted, it is like a release valve has gone off, and we can now experience them, the way they should be. The Causeway Enclosure it certainly worthy for any formation, and I hope this is not the last time we see a crop circle on this side of the hill.
