A crude 30’ x 26’ oval shape and separate 36’ x 6’ curved path lie in a wheat field very close to the Moulsecoomb housing estate. A 22’ x 13’ oval ring, 3’ wide, and assorted messy pathways lie at the edge of the field further west.
The main oval is essentially anticlockwise, but has a randomly mashed centre, while the adjacent curved path is laid toward the oval. The oval ring is clockwise.
The poor quality of this formation does rather suggest it might be the work of youths from the local estate, although there is no proof of this. For what it’s worth, a better dumbbell formation did appear further east in the same field in 1994 and the excellent Patcham formation of this year lies just a mile and a half away west.
The formation can just be glimpsed from the A27 looking south-east as one drives down the hill from Coldean.
