This formation in wheat arrived between 8.00 pm Friday the 28 of July and 07.00 Saturday the 29 of July. It is a whopping 294 ft. measured from the outer most satellites. The floor lay is beautiful and has been constructed with six inch whorls. Although some of the satellites are not as well defined as others, there are beautiful "nests" and single standing stems in some. As well as some broken stems I found "magic bends" in both crop and weeds. This formation which came down in exactly the same spot as an osr formation early last year is located next to the channel tunnel rail link, like half of last years Kent formations. I feel I must say how impressed I was with this one.

Roy Luck (One of our MCC members) saw a new formation this morning (Saturday July 29th). It wasn't there at 8 o'clock last night but was there by 07.00 this morning. It is resting in a field of wheat off the A227 (Right Hand Side ) near the village of Istead Rise. It is in the same field as a previous  formation which came down early last year. It is approx. 300 ft across and consists of a six pointed star (standing crop) which has diamond shapes (88 feet. across, 58 along in laying crop). In each of the diamonds there is two standing circles ( the small one measures 4.5ft, the bigger one is 6.5ft in diameter). The centre of the star is a circle of laying crop. At each star "arm" and diamond there is three diminishing circles (10 ft. 6.6 ft. and 5 feet .in diameter) Some had lovely nests and at least one had a single standing stem in the middle. I didn't see many broken stems, most was bend beautifully very close to the ground. The lay was lovely and going in different directions. This formation is right next to the channel rail link works like a lot of the other Kent formations. We are hoping to get aerial  shots of this one very soon as it really deserves it.

A new formation was first reported yesterday from near Gravesend, Kent, off the A227 to Istead Rise, in virtually the same location as the wavy ring formation of the previous year, but in wheat. A roadside shot across the valley, taken this morning, is attached.  The lay had a rather mechanical quality to it with the points of the star having the lay on the right towards the point, but that on the left side away from it, whereas in most genuine formations the lay is point wise from both sides. The centres of the smaller satellite circles in those examined were poorly defined.
