Well, as I drove out to Wiltshire, I wanted so much to stumble across a new formation, it was certainly in the air, so to speak. You tend to have a sixth sense when it comes to crop circles. The air was still and warm on the night this formation formed. So the chances were high, as I arrived in the Avebury area. As I drove past Silbury Hill, I looked across to the grid formation at East Kennett, and said, "Come on Circlemakers, were have you put it" when I suddenly spotted what looked like a new formation. On first glance, it appeared as if the grid had been added to, perhaps for the better? But it become evident, that amazingly a second formation had formed next to the grid. This was becoming an extraordinary season I felt, as I once again drove towards the field.

On closer inspection, this new formation was very different from the first, with a very unusual heart shape made up of three linked circles, encompassed by 29 circles. All of the circles, excluding the heart inner circles were flowing in an anti clockwise rotation, with just one circle on the outer ring significantly smaller than the rest. The circles inside the heart, were all flowing clockwise. On the bottom side of the formation, towards the long barrow, a number of random grapeshot circles were dotted around the outer ring of circles. But curiously, none were present on the upper part of the formation.

One of the aspects of crop circling is meeting people from all walks of life. But, the power of the crop circles, is to bring everyone together and this particular formation appeared to have this quality. I watched on several occasions, peoples' reaction to the formation, and where they congregated within the formation. The majority of the people who visited the formation, while i was taking photographs preferred to stay in the centre. This is very interesting I felt, because I believe certain shapes have an influence over people within the fields interacting with the landscape. As the heart, is a subtle organ of the body, people seem to respond to this within the formation, which is why they tended to mingle in the centre. A very important observation, which I will keep an eye on in further formations this summer.
