Sussex finally has its first formation of 2000 in the shape of this ‘cosmic paw print’, not unlike the Owslebury event of 15th May, but without the surrounding pathway. Five circles of 34’, 31’, 24’, 15’ and 16’ lie very close to each other in a wheat field at Denton Corner, overlooking Newhaven harbour. This same field played host to an elaborate dumbbell pictogram in 1995, but these circles are slightly further to the north. All the circles are clockwise and nicely swirled with offset centres. When first visited there were no entry paths into the circles not intersected with tramlines. A good view of the formation can be had from the A259 road heading east from Newhaven to Seaford. Not major-league stuff, but pleasant in its simplicity and a welcome return of the phenomenon to Sussex after a quiet summer and a string of misreported wind damage… Survey conducted by Andy and Kaye Thomas for Southern Circular Research

On my way into work this morning I saw a formation of what looked, on my
glimpse, to be five circles of differing sizes.
These are in the big sloping field ( wheat ? ) just to the SE of Denton roundabout at Newhaven. I saw them off the main road - on the left just
after the car sales place.
I hope we have something here - I can't comment on the quality as no time to stop and look.
